Bull Creek Wildlife Management Area

I haven't posted in awhile. A lot has happened. We drove south to our new job at Bull Creek Wildlife Management Area. This job is manning a check-in station throughout hunting season from September 15 to April 22, 2018. We arrived on September 1 and got our site set up. Another camp host arrived two days later. Three days later, Hurricane Irma decided to visit and we were evacuated due to an expected direct hit to the Melbourne area.

We left at 2 am trying to beat traffic. While stopping in St. Cloud, FL for diesel, we noticed the generator making unusual sounds. We checked the oil which was nearly non-existent. At this point, we know the generator is in major trouble because the fluid levels were fine before we left. We stopped at a 24 hour Walmart and picked up the required oil, filled it up and continued on our way. We made it as far as Wildwood, FL and then I-75 turned into a parking lot. We were stopped for over an hour.

As we pulled into our destination, the generator chugged a few times and died, never to run again! After an expensive failed repair attempt, we had no choice except to replace the generator which required customizing the generator space to fit the new model generator. Apparently, things change in over twenty years! Generators for motorhomes are expensive and so is customizing so that the generator will fit. I hope this is the last repair for awhile.

On the positive side, we weathered the storm well. Coach, family, and friends made it through unscathed for the most part. I'm thankful for that.

We are back at Herky Huffman and settling into deer season.

Safe travels,
Lynn
